Amazon.com Product Description
Steep hills and rocky terrain are no match for this well-equipped and equally stylish running shoe by New Balance. Constructed with a durable and breathable synthetic and mesh upper, the WT874 features generous cushioning in the forefoot and heel, a special liner designed to hold the midfoot securely in place, and a shock distribution plate that protects against the impact of landing on rocks and debris. The shoe’s rugged rubber outsole offers added protection and excellent grip on all types of surfaces.
Great for Dog Agility (2009-06-18)
$29?? I want to know where that reviewer got these shoes for $29! Admittedly, I bought mine at LLBean for less than the $90 price thanks to a couple of gift cards, but $29?? I'd happily buy more of these shoes for $29. As it is, I'm quite satisfied with these shoes for the listed price. They give me excellent traction when I'm running with my dog. They stop easily, and I haven't fallen or tripped up yet with them. I haven't tried them at an outdoor trial yet, but for inside classes and practices, they've been terrific. I bought them a half size larger (8 1/2 rather than 8) and they fit fine.
Great shoes! (2009-02-22)
These shoes both look great and feel great. They were just as described and fit perfectly. They give great support.
New Balance WT874 Trail Running Shoe (2009-01-31)
Although listed as a "trail running shoe", the New Balance WT874 really isn't. It has an aggressive sole that can absorb the impact of small rocks and pebbles but the open weave top does not provide enough support to prevent the anterior part of the foot from side-to-side sliding in the shoe on uneven terrain. This could cause the foot to invert leading to an ankle sprain. I think that's why another reviewer rated the shoe so poorly for tennis. Also, the shoe was not exceptionally comformtable for running on smooth level pavement even with an extra padded insert. It seems best suited as casual wear or walking on even terrain but not vigorous activity. The only real virtues of the shoe were the price (less than $29.00) and free shipping. For ten dollars more, I bought a pair of Brooks Cascadia Trail Shoes from an outlet--that was the best $39.00 I've spent for shoes. Unlike the New Balance shoes. the Brooks shoes are superbly comfortable--they fit my feet like a glove from time zero and make them feel like they are in a spa!
Not a Tennis Shoe (2009-01-04)
Amazon has this shoe incorrectly listed under the Tennis shoe category. The shoe listed is an outdoor shoe and should not be used for tennis. My daughter wore the shoe during a tournament and almost injured herself, because the shoe slides easily on a tennis court. Avoid injury, do not buy this shoe for tennis.
